Clinton! (Bill or Hillary…LOL)
July 7, 2010 @ 12:11 am
Abraham Lincoln! Does it matter that I wasn’t born yet?
July 7, 2010 @ 12:36 am
Clinton without a doubt…and Hillary would have been awesome.

I would have to go with the binary star power of FDR and Eleanor. They made serious inroads to real change.

BILL CLINTON, the first President of the United States to have created a budget surplus, EVER……
July 10, 2010 @ 1:59 am
Rutherford Birchard Hayes.
But only because he needs more fans.

Also agree with FDR. Carter comes in 2nd. Bill Clinton did nothing to ingratiate himself with me. (DOMA comes to mind)

Eleanor, of course!

Bill Clinton!!!

gotta be Lincoln.

As one of your neighbours to the north, I’m not as directly affected by who is president, but on a personal basis, Jimmy Carter was my favourite. He just seemed like such a genuinely decent man.

Truly a decent man- so intelligent and deeply thoughtful. Has the courage to speak what is true.

Really hard to decide, but finally… President John F. Kennedy for me.
July 11, 2010 @ 10:15 pm
Millard Fillmore – just for the name. 🙂 (my favourite Prime Minister of Canada would have been either of the two in the 1890s who had the decency to die early in their terms and do little or nothing)

Tough question. The only options in my lifetime have been Carter and Clinton. Clinton is so clearly flawed, not only in his personal life but also in his capitulation to Republicans (DOMA, NAFTA…)–though I love his charisma and his ability to speak to a crowd of millions as if he is talking to his two or three best friends. His ability to communicate a complicated idea in simple language is amazing (unlike Obama). Carter is by far the most decent human being who has been president in my lifetime–though he was not a great leader. Also, Carter reminds me of my dad, which makes me love him. I am inspired by Carter’s and Clinton’s continued efforts to make the world a better place–when Republicans leave office, they shamelessly retire into wealth and obscurity on the high-end lecture circuit–how is that not shameful?

I have to agree…I applaud Clinton and Carter’s continuing efforts to stay involved, advocate for causes and strive for peace…

Millard Fillmore. Because he did nothing. Nothing good, nothing bad. Just nothing.
