Best: I’m almost retired!

In many ways, I love being my age—which is mid-50s. I know more than before. I am more cyber connected than most people of any vintage. I have achieved a degree of calm that I often sought earlier in life, though I still have a long way to go. I have chosen my friends well—and they include friends of all ages—and have found the courage to ditch the time wasters and false friends. I can let things go more easily. My righteous anger is more righteous, and I hold my self-serving, egotistical, prideful anger more in-check. If I have self-esteem, it’s been earned. I now know the difference between love and neurotic codependency.
I will be curious to see how many answers you get from people of a younger vintage than ourselves. Does our culture encourage all of us to think about how great it is to be ANY age, what opportunities and pleasures are unique to ANY stage of life? DO we take being 20, or 40, or 60, or 80, for granted? Maybe it’s healthy to do so.
We Boomers have had a good run for most of our lives. Perhaps retirement will be our not-so-good life stage?

The Best part of being 63 is watching my three children take the love and nurturing I gave them and grow into strong adults now raising children of their own.
The worst is …. not being able to enjoy them as my children anymore.
