What was the most positive line you ever got when you came out? My brother told me he was glad I was finally getting some.
Kate wants to hear from you! The next question of the week, straight from Kate, is: What was the most positive line you ever got when you came out?
My brother told me he was glad I was finally getting some.

My Mother said to me….Well, I’m glad your Father is already dead…because this would certainly kill him.

I was living with my parents when I was in my mid 20’s, and I was dating an older women who I learned was cheating on my and I was devastated. In the interim, aclose friend was killed in a car crash…I was just a mess, but I decided to move out of my parents house , thinking I would be better off living alone going through all this…Well, on my moving day, my Dad and I were stopped at a red light, and it was clear I was having an upsetting day… and with no segway he just looked over at me and said “Let’s no pull any punches about your life style, but if this is your choice, you could do so much better and deserve better for yourself.” The light turned green, he drove and never said another word to me again about it. It was is way of letting me know he knew what was up with my girlfriend and he hoped I could find someone more worthy of me…this was “one ” of those moments in my life.

My sixteen year old son said: “That is so cool!” My ten year old son started humming the wedding march which he changed to Star Wars Darth Vader music when I told him it wasn’t legal for me to marry my girlfriend.

My grandfather told me that his sister (a lesbian) told him I was gay when I was 5, laughed, and welcomed my girlfriend to the family.

My dad is a gamer, and I interrupted his time at the computer to tell him that I was a lesbian. He said, “Yeah, I thought so,” and promptly returned to playing his game.

I never really had an official “coming out” to my family. I guess they figured it out by themselves. However, I did come out to a colleague that I had worked with for years. I sent him a letter coming out and apologized for years of hiding it from him. He told me that he knew all along and said “I bet this is a load off of your mind.” It truly was.

My partner and I were buying a house together, so I came out to my (completely unknowing and befuddled) mother by saying “You know we’re a couple, right?” She said “Well, how do you pay your taxes?” HA!

It was actually when my mother walked in on my 1st girlfriend and I making out in her (my mother’s) livingroom. My mom’s response? “Oh, uhm, dinner’s ready.” It was all downhill after that! 🙂

My sister, who had toyed with the idea of lesbianism in high school but has since settled with being bisexual, said, “Shit! My little sister is getting pussy before I do!”

I came out to my dad in a letter. (It seems so long ago, I think it was delivered by pony express!) The next time I saw him, he gave me a card with a long note, thanking me for being honest, and saying “it doesn’t matter to me who you love, as long as I am among them.”
