Bill Moyers
He is an ordained Baptist minister, and a strong, intelligent, rational voice of compassion and inclusion.

Gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson would never fly but how about Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, the first female (as far as we can tell) head of the Episcopal church here in the U.S.

I think that maybe Maya Angelou or maybe Suzie Orman, would of been a nice change for the invocation of the inauguration. No seriously any one but Mr. Living your Best Life. How about Eckhart Tolle? Just some ideas!

Friends have wisely suggested Bishop Gene Robinson. THERE’S someone who’s trying to be a uniter, not a divider!

Jim Wallis or Desmond Tutu
OR no invocation at all. Let’s really separate church from state and not have “religious” words or prayer at all. jc

There should be no invocation at all. An invocation pollutes the democratic process and is in violation of the United States Constitution because it is religious.

I think that Obama should simply place his hand on the golden rule – “do unto others as you would have them do unto us”

I think it should be the vulcanologist from the Yellowstone super volcano which is getting ready to blow. I think this is the Goddesses wrath coming down on the USA for electing George Bush twice as president. She is annoyed in my opinion and she is going to blow off some steam and hopefully it will only be a mild event, though all in all I do have to say it has been a wonderful life. At least we dont have to be concerned anymore about the economy. This super volcano undergoing harmonic tremors just puts everything into perspective.

I’d prefer no invocation at all, quite frankly. But if we must have one then my pick would be Dolly Parton.

The Dalai Lama, of course. Who better embodies diversity? Oops, forgot the lack of Christian reference, but maybe His Holiness’ spirituality and compassion will make up for it?
