I find it exciting because Ellen is a beautiful, out woman who has shown the world how much joy a person can experience when they come out of the closet and allow love and acceptance to guide their life rather than fear and shame. I also find it wonderful and affirming that someone 50 (or over 50) is considered beautiful without having had a ton of unnecessary plastic surgery!!!
My only question for Ellen– how do you reconcile your vegan lifestyle w/ make up products which may be tested on animals? Is Cover Girl cruelty free now?

For me, any time a woman, and especially a lesbian, makes a lot of money I get excited.
In our consumer-driven culture, money equals success. So when the Ellen’s and Rachel Maddow’s of the world make it, I have hope that all of our stock values increase.
I would also add that when a forty-something lesbian (of which I am one, too) is the “face” for anything related to beauty I find myself oddly excited and cheering, too.
