MARCH ON WASHINGTON
The day before the latest March on Washington in October, (and you looked fabulous, Kate!) my partner and I were doing a bit of sightseeing when we came upon a group of religious fanatics with their bullhorn and huge sign condemning homosexuality. Right on Constitution Avenue. There were a few hundred mostly young people across the street, catcalling and the like.
We stepped right in front of them into the middle of Constitution Avenue – completely stopping traffic – and gave each other a lip-lock, tonsil-tickle the likes of which haven’t been seen since doing the same thing years before in front of Phred Phelps and his video camera crew in San Francisco.
The crowd went ballistic, completely drowning out the morons with the bullhorn.
Finally coming up for air, we smiled and waved at the dumbfounded dummies before turning our backs on them and heading arm-in-arm into the cheering crowd.
Street Theatre is a lot of fun.

OREGON
When Oregon was battling the anti-gay measures 9 and 13 an anonymous group (wink, wink) placed info in the voters pamphlet in support of the anti-side quoting the Bible, specifically Leviticus, about not wearing mixed fibers, eating shell fish and wearing cosmetics. The info then pointed out that being gay was as frowned upon by God as those who wore polyester, ate crab and shrimp and wore lipstick. Very tongue in cheek and very effective at lifting the spirits of those of us who were being terrorized on a daily basis by polyester wearing right-wing lug nuts.

DADT
I like to argue my conservative high school friends into a corner on my fb wall, at which they profess their support of either repealing DADT and/or general support of Gay marriage for all in my hometown in Arkansas to see…so far I have collected 3 conservative voices, not to mention the toaster ovens!
