Kate…my most favorite blogs, interviews, columns, essays, etc with and by you are the ones where you allow a glimmer of real emotion. I think this one went to the top of the list today. I still remember the morning of 9/11 like it was yesterday. I can still see the sky. Where I was going. And how I felt.
I remember everything of that morning but what was devastating at the very moment was my 11 year old son holding onto to me so tight and crying, “I need to see Momma1 she works in a big place and she will be next!” When she walked up the sidewalk he ran to her and cried. Then asked if he could go to his buddies house because both his Moms were fine.

The sadness comes back, like a visitor you thought you’d dealt with… I’m “right there with you.”
