avoid dairy … use zinc, eat spicy food, garlic, drink lots of fluids, & use a Neti pot or Simply Saline spray.
i am prone to sinus/ear infections so this is advice from lifelong experience.
feel better Kate ….

Zicam nose spray (the one with eucalyptus) works wonders for congestion and stuffiness.
Emergen-C 1,000 mg drink mix. Just add to water or gatorade for added electrolytes.
Plenty O’ Puffs.
Cuddle with the gal pal.
Just my two cents.
Feel Better Soon!

Kate, this has worked wonders for me, and for the flu as well (as long your stomach isn’t upset):
Peel, crush, and slice up minimum 20 cloves of garlic, drop into saucepan with water & bring to boil. The more garlic, the better! Boil for only a couple minutes, then turn heat off and add juice of half fresh lemon.
Pour thru strainer into large coffee mug and sip while it’s piping hot. This will clear up any head cold, open up chest and nasal passages, and get all that gunk outta your system! You will feel 100% better in less than a half-day, guaranteed!
People think this will taste yucky, but really it doesn’t. It’s medicinal and palatable, but the best part is how you will feel after drinking it -divine!

Yuck…just getting over one. I was miserable. Was recommended a kit by my holisitic guru called
” Neil-Med ” it is a sinus wash that works wonders. You mix this solution with distilled water, and wash out your sinuses…it truly is amazing how much better it makes you feel. Then just kept flushing my body with hot water and lemon and continued saline spray to keep cleansing sinuses. No over the counter junk.

If ur snotty use a decongestant. If the snot is thick or ur sinuses are crappy a product called Mucinex is good, it can get got over the counter.

Chicken soup, chicken soup, chicken soup. When you get sick of that, chicken broth, chicken broth, chicken broth. Sleep sleep sleep. Try like hell not to give it to Vash or y’all will just be giving it back and forth. The sinus washes work well for those who can do it without gagging, which is not me. Nose sprays (IMHO) only dry me up for about 5 min then I’m back to honking, and then (medically) you’re not supposed to use the spray again for hours. I usually just camp in a hot shower, or stand over the sink with a towel over my head & the faucet, running the hot water and breathing in the steam. A humidifer works too but you can get a nasty steam burn if you try to put your head in a towel over it. (Did I mention chicken soup?)

Hot and wet. Yes. The germs don’t like that. Drink hot tea (preferably a medicinal) while standing in the bathroom with the hot shower running full-blast. Breathe in that steam. Also, drink hot water with garlic in it. Gargle with hot salt water. Go out for sushi and be generous with the wasabe. Drink Blenheim’s strong ginger ale (your sinuses won’t believe it!).
