Gulf Shores, Alabama! We loved it so much we moved here from the Midwest, without jobs lined up or even any contacts. Fifteen years later, it’s still our favorite beach hangout!

Ocean Reef Park, Singer Island, FL. It’s free, has plentiful parking, is a clean beach with a lifeguard and, best of all, a reef very close to shore. While snorkeling, I’ve seen countless colorful reef fish plus stingrays of various sizes, turtles, lobsters, crabs, needlefish, pipefish, schools of barracuda, tarpon, colorful large jellyfish, and even squid. Unbelievable, and you can swim to it easily from the beach.
